Real Results Come from Applying What You’ve Learned
Beekeeping tips for beginners often focus on what to do—but real success comes from actually applying what you’ve learned. You can read about hive management, watch videos, and understand the theory, but until you’re out there working your bees, making decisions, and learning from mistakes, it doesn’t truly click.
Beekeeping is hands on. It’s built through experience, patience, and consistency and that’s where real results come from.
Why This Blog Exists
That’s exactly why I created “Keepin’ Up with the Bees.”
This blog is here to share real, practical Beekeeping tips for beginners that actually help. Lessons you can take and apply directly to your own hives. Not just theory, but real world lessons, small details, and honest experiences that make a difference when it comes to keeping bees alive and thriving.
My Start in Beekeeping
I didn’t get into beekeeping on my own.
My uncle, Dick Miller, is the reason I started. He taught me everything I know not just how to work a hive, but how to respect the bees, stay patient, and take the time to do things the right way. He had a successful beekeeping career, and more importantly, he understood what it really takes to succeed.
The Story Behind Jacobees
In early 2025, he passed away.
That winter was one of the hardest I’ve had. It felt like everything I had learned wasn’t enough, and I started questioning whether I could really continue on my own.
But when spring came, something changed.
For the first time, one of my hives made it through the winter.
That moment meant everything to me.
It wasn’t just about one hive surviving. It was about everything finally starting to make sense. The lessons, the mistakes, the experience—it all came together. It felt like what I had been taught finally clicked.
And honestly, it felt like he was still there, helping me figure it out.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
Jacobees was built from that moment.
This company isn’t just about honey or products—it’s about continuing something that was started long before me. It’s about doing things the right way, supporting healthy hives, and building something that lasts.
Everything I do is rooted in what he taught me, and every step forward is about keeping that legacy alive.

Why Applying Knowledge Matters in Beekeeping
At the end of the day, knowledge is important—but it’s not enough on its own.

Because in beekeeping, “real results come from applying what you’ve learned.”
